Red flags in AI output:

✗ Names of experts or organizations you can't find online
✗ Confident answers to questions that should have nuance
✗ Seamless narratives with no caveats or counterpoints

Ask the AI to Show Its Work

One useful technique: ask the AI to explain how it reached its answer or to cite the sources it drew from. This doesn’t guarantee accuracy, but it surfaces the reasoning you need to evaluate.

"How confident are you in this answer? What might be wrong?"

Models trained for honesty will often flag their own uncertainty when asked directly. If the AI doubles down with vague justifications instead of acknowledging limits, that’s a signal to verify independently.
